Motor cuts out, or E-04: brake switch stuck
Each brake lever has a small switch that cuts the motor. If it sticks, the scooter will not go.

- Display shows E-04
- Throttle does nothing, or brake light stays on
- Scooter goes only after wiggling a lever
Likely causes
Squeeze and release each lever and watch it snap back. Does the brake light switch off?
What you need
Tools
Example photoA spray made for electrical contacts, one that evaporates fully. Use it only with the scooter switched off.

Step by step
Tap a step when it’s done to keep your place.
- Clear anything touching the levers
Bag straps, phone mounts, a lever knocked in a fall.
- Clean the pivot
Wipe the lever pivot and the area where the lever meets the switch. A tiny drop of contact cleaner helps a sticky switch.
- Check the switch cable
Follow the thin cable from each lever. It should be plugged in firmly and not pinched.
- Test
Switch on: E-04 gone, brake light off at rest and on when you squeeze.
When to take it to a shop
If a switch is broken; it is a small, cheap part.
